John Michael Gray's latest solo piano album, "Inspire" is a collection of inspirations. In the liner notes he explains the connection each song has by telling a story about it. For example, his story for the song "Inspire": "I perform in all kinds of venues.....malls, bookstores, record stores, colleges, churches, gift shops, art festivals.....and each time I play, I have the opportunity to talk with people and hear their own personal stories about the piano.....how they only had a few lessons as a child and wished they had more or how they always wanted to learn to play but never had the opportunity or how they had lessons for many years and now can't play at all or how they learned to play and love it. I've never heard anyone say they can play the piano and they hate it! "Inspire" is my creation that says Every second spent practicing has been worth it. I hope this album inspires and encourages."
A music fan from Decatur, Illinois........"John Michael Gray's "Inspire" is an incredibly creative work, and one of my favorites. John's original piano style shines through as always on his original material, but it also shines through on each of the cover songs on this album. Each one has its own recognizable sound, yet echoes his style throughout the piece. This is a great album for anyone who appreciates fine piano."
Soothing......"This is truly a soothing and relaxing CD. I use this CD in my classroom as background music. It helps calm my students and me. We all enjoy JMG's style of music and selection of songs."
He just keeps getting better!!!!!!!!!!......... "John Michael's music has become an important part of each day!! When I purchased "Smooth Water" a year ago I couldn't imagine enjoying a CD any more...then "Inspire" was released!!!! John Michael's CD's include songs that the listener is familiar with and his own original works. Inspire contains favorites including "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" and "Butterfly Kisses" but one would be remiss without recognizing the beautiful original pieces like "Now Everything is Okay", and "A Flicker In The Window". This man is a rare talent who appeals to all ages. His music has become my favorite gift to give and everyone who has received the gift of his music has been blessed by his talent. I eagerly await his next release."
"Inspire" - listening and feeling the music..... "I can feel John Michael Gray's music. Listening and feeling his music makes the listener feel as if he/she is on another plane as if he/she was living an experience of their own dreams. I can see him playing in my mind and I believe in his music. He has inspired many to fullfill ones dreams!"
A music fan from St. Joseph, Illinois - A refreshing and unique collection unlike any other CD........"Inspire" is the third CD I have in my John Michael Gray collection, and it is also my favorite. I was unsure if I would like the combination of "cover songs" and original JMG's. However, it turned out to be the perfect combination for his 5th release. The first cut happens to be my favorite. "Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring" is a personal preference, but John Michael Gray's arrangement surpasses any I have heard. It's uplifting, light notes are beautiful and Spring-like. Pachelbel's "Canon In D", "O Sacred Head Now Wounded" and "Morning Has Broken" are brilliantly performed on this album as well. Their well known melodies have been enlightened by JMG's unique manner of playing. "I Believe I Can Fly", "My Heart Will Go On", "Butterfly Kisses" and "Sailing" are simply pop songs with a new feel. Like most pop music after excessive air play, songs can defintely get old in a short amount of time. JMG has revived these four favorites with again his own flair and sense of style. "Inspire", "A Flicker In The Window", and "Now Everything Is Okay" are wonderful original pieces that flow from start to finish. John Michael Gray has a true talent. I would advise everyone to try his latest effort. I know they would not be disappointed."
John Michael creates the perfect setting for "Inspire"......"John Michael Gray's "Inspire" is an incredibly creative work, and one of my favorites. John's original piano style shines through as always on his original material, but it also shines through on each of the cover songs on this album. Each one has its own recognizable sound, yet echoes of John's style throughout the piece. This is a great album for anyone who appreciates fine piano."
